For this PhD theme, you will consider the social relevance of circularity and its potential in driving participatory planning or -better yet- self-organisation processes at community scale. You will explore the ways the paradigm of circularity can transcend the current models of place making to include new patterns of horizontal collaboration (not for people but with people) and to determine the impact of that collaboration in terms of new employment opportunities; quality of life; inclusion and sense of belonging.
Completed MSc degree in Architecture; Urbanism; Industrial Design and Building Technology (a Built Environment degree)
The ability to work in a team, take initiative, be result oriented, organized and creative.
Good command of verbal and written English. Dutch language is an asset.
Good people/communication skills
Prior research on circularity will be considered a plus
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Fixed-term contract: 4 years.

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, increasing from € 2395 per month in the first year to € 3061 in the fourth year.
