ACCEPT (Active Communities and Energy Prosumers for the Energy Transition) is a €7.5m multinational research project funded under the Horizon 2020 programme. It aims to develop and deliver a digital toolbox that allows energy communities to offer innovative digital services and access revenue streams that can financially support their functions and secure their sustainability and effectiveness.
The Cleaner Production Promotion Unit is a multi-disciplinary research centre based in UCC’s School of Engineering and Architecture and Environmental Research Institute. Operating at the intersection of the social sciences with science and engineering, the unit conducts engaged research, focused on the theme of society, sustainability and energy. Its interdisciplinary team comprises researchers from diverse backgrounds including human geography, political science, sociology, environmental science and engineering. The group has a substantial portfolio of research projects funded under both national and EU funding schemes. More information can be found on https://cppu.ucc.ie/.
The successful candidate will work with the existing team conducting engaged research primarily within the ACCEPT project – this will include contributing to the design and setting up of ‘living labs’; characterising consumer behaviour on energy; analysing governance and socio-political contexts; and mapping community stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated researcher to join an established research group working on the human and societal dimensions of the energy transition.
